SEDBERGH INTERNATIONAL SUMMER CAMP 2025 – A MESMERIZING JOURNEY OF THE WOLF HOUSE IN THE UK

Over two unforgettable summer weeks in the UK, Sedberghians broadened their horizons, exchanged cultures with international peers, and deepened their understanding of British identity — all while building essential skills for future journeys.
DISCOVERING THE HEART OF ENGLAND
Stepping into London means entering a world where centuries-old history meets the energy of a modern metropolis. As part of the Sedbergh International Summer Program, Sedberghians explored iconic landmarks and immersed themselves in the city’s dynamic rhythm — gaining valuable insights into culture, history, science, technology, and essential life skills.
EXPANDING CONNECTIONS IN A TRADITIONALLY BRITISH SPACE
Leaving behind the vibrant pace of London, 33 Sedberghians set foot on the peaceful Sedbergh campus, nestled amidst England’s ancient hills and countryside. Here, they began their journey of broadening knowledge, embracing cultural exchange, and developing essential skills — making this summer a meaningful milestone in their path toward maturity.
Amidst the lush greenery of Sedbergh town in Cumbria, UK, Sedberghians engaged in team games that wove teamwork into every challenge. At the heart of the Sedbergh International Summer Program, team spirit shaped each experience — helping students strengthen collaboration, build resilience, think flexibly, communicate effectively, and truly listen to and understand their peers, all while embracing the core values of Sedbergh UK.
VISITING MANCHESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB
In 2023, Manchester City became the first English club to win a historic quadruple — claiming the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup. As part of the Sedbergh International Summer Program, Sedbergh Vietnam students visited the club, gaining insights into British sports culture and the team that has redefined English football on the world stage.
GORGE WALKING – CONQUERING A 5KM MOUNTAINOUS TRAIL
During the “Gorge Walking” excursion, the 5km mountain trek was just one part of an unforgettable journey. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery and lush meadows, Sedberghians took pride in conquering the Abseiling challenge and, above all, in pushing beyond their personal limits — building resilience through every step.
FENCING & HOCKEY – SIGNATURE SPORTS OF SEDBERGH SCHOOL UK
In the thoughtfully designed atmosphere of the summer program, Sedbergh School’s core values are brought to life through diverse activities. Fencing — a camp favorite — and hockey — a key sport at Sedbergh — go beyond physical training. They foster energy, sportsmanship, and a deep connection to the proud traditions of the Wolf Pack.
MAKING “WELSH CAKE” – EXPERIENCING A BEAUTIFUL CUSTOM FROM WALES, UK
Through hands-on baking, students discovered the heartwarming tradition behind Welsh Cakes — a symbol of the Welsh people’s friendliness and generosity. Using simple ingredients, the young Sedbergh Vietnam “chefs” prepared sweet treats that carried their care and connection to friends and international teachers alike.
ENGLISH SKILLS IN ACTION WITH INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS AND TEACHERS THROUGH PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
Sedberghians developed and honed their English skills alongside international friends and teachers through engaging project-based lessons. In their first project, each group created a short video introducing Sedbergh School. Through the curious perspective of these young students, the 500-year-old British school becomes a multicultural home where they connect, gain new knowledge, strengthen their language skills, build resilience, and create lasting memories with new friends.
IMMERSED IN NATURE AT LOWTHER CASTLE AND THE LASER TAG PARK
Surrounded by the greenery of Lowther Castle and the excitement of the Laser Tag park, students explored teamwork, communication, and perseverance through every engaging challenge. In this setting, nature served as an inspiring guide, offering real-world lessons beyond the classroom.
LASER CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING & FISHING EXPERIENCE
The curiosity and adventurous spirit of students extended beyond the classroom and sports field. They embraced two demanding challenges — Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting and Fishing — where, under the guidance of local instructors, they honed focus, patience, and keen observation. With every shot and cast, they tapped into their inner strength, turning determination into achievement and pushing past personal boundaries.
DISCOVERING THE FASCINATING 2,000-YEAR CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL STORY OF YORK
Visiting the 2,000-year-old city of York, Sedberghians transformed into young “Detectives,” uncovering the fascinating cultural and historical stories of this ancient place. Group 1 explored the city’s unique features by collecting clues and observations throughout the trip. Meanwhile, Group 2 decoded the taste of York with a visit to York’s Chocolate Story, where they hand-decorated chocolate bars in their own creative ways.
Each piece of this York adventure not only strengthened their thinking and language skills but also taught them how to connect history with the present through every captivating detail they discovered.
THE JOURNEY TO CONQUER SEDBERGH’S “LIGHTHOUSE”: WINDER FELL
“Every great journey begins with small steps.”
A 10km mountain trail, equivalent to about 15km on flat ground was the distance each Sedberghian covered on their journey to conquer the “lighthouse” of Sedbergh town: Winder Fell.
Sedbergh Vietnam is proud of the effort, determination, and team spirit that the Wolf House members showed to one another and to themselves along the way. This will be a memorable milestone after the Sedbergh International Summer Program.
Conquering Winder Fell is considered a proud Sedbergh sports tradition, strengthening physical fitness, nurturing resilience, and cultivating the core values of the Wolf House spirit.
EXPLORING HISTORICAL LEGACY – TIMELESS WITNESSES TO 500 YEARS OF HERITAGE
Sedbergh School’s rich legacy lives on not only through its global alumni but also in the treasured artifacts that embody centuries of tradition. As part of the Sedbergh International Summer Program, students from Sedbergh Vietnam explored these historical pieces and uncovered their stories through insightful conversations with school representatives — gaining a deeper appreciation for the school’s enduring heritage.
LOOKING BACK ON A JOURNEY OF CULTURES AND CONNECTION
“I made so many new friends and learned about new cultures from France, Belgium, Germany, Argentina, Hungary, Japan, and more.”
“From the moment I conquered my fears during Gorge Walking, I knew I had won over myself…”
These are just a few of the many reflections shared by Sedberghians after 17 unforgettable days at Sedbergh School UK — a vibrant, multicultural home to over 200 students from 22 countries and territories.
The Sedbergh International Summer Program offered more than just English improvement. It was a powerful journey of self-growth, from early moments of hesitation and unfamiliarity to heartfelt farewells filled with gratitude and connection. Friendships, lessons, and the warmth of shared experiences have now become cherished memories.
Congratulations to the 33 Sedbergh Vietnam students on an extraordinary summer filled with courage, growth, and discovery!
