SMART GARDEN, GREEN FUTURE: STUDENTS DESIGN SMART HOME GARDENS THROUGH INTERDISCIPLINARY LEARNING

How can a home vegetable garden be designed to be practical, scientific, and well suited to modern living?

In the interdisciplinary Biology – Technology project, students at Sedbergh Vietnam explored this question by taking on the role of “agricultural and technical engineers.” Under the guidance of Ms Mỹ Linh, Science Teacher, and Ms Khánh Vân, Biology Teacher and lead teacher of Science team, each group applied their knowledge of plants, growing conditions, and environmental factors to develop their own concept for a smart home garden.

A highlight of the project was the showcase at experiential booths, where teachers and students from other year levels could visit, ask questions, and listen to the groups’ recommendations on how to design a small yet effective vegetable garden for everyday living spaces.

Through this journey, Biology and Technology were no longer treated as separate subjects, but connected through a practical, real-life solution. It also reflects how Sedbergh Vietnam helps students develop problem-solving skills, teamwork, confident communication, and a proactive, creative mindset in learning.
