SEDBERGHIAN PROUDLY REPRESENTS VIETNAM AS A CHAMPION OF THE FIDE WORLD TEAM AMATEUR RAPID CHESS CUP 2026

A proud early-summer achievement for the Sedbergh Vietnam community: Minh Phương, a Grade 10 student, and the Golden Stars team have successfully claimed the championship title at the FIDE World Team Amateur Rapid Chess Cup 2026, held in Hong Kong, competing in the Rapid Chess category.

Competing alongside young amateur chess players from around the world, the Grade 10 Sedberghian and five teammates demonstrated strong teamwork, advancing through 9 rounds under the Swiss System, leading Group A and securing their place in the championship match. In the final match, with flexible strategies, strong focus, and consistent performance, the Golden Stars team delivered an outstanding victory, officially lifting the FIDE World Team Amateur Rapid Chess Cup 2026 trophy and marking Vietnam’s presence on the international chess stage.
