EXPLORE THE CHEMISTRY OF NATURAL SOAP WITH OUR GRADE 12 STUDENTS
How is an everyday bar of soap made? Grade 12 students in STARS Pathway at Sedbergh Vietnam explored the answer through a hands-on “Natural Soap” practical in the laboratory.
The session brought learning from “Soap and Detergents”, part of the Esters and Lipids unit, into practice. Students applied their knowledge of saponification, carrying out procedures and making observations to better understand how fats react with an alkali to form fatty acid salts, the main component of soap.
