REPAPER – RELOVE | TURNING INTERDISCIPLINARY LEARNING INTO COMMUNITY ACTION

What if a simple sheet of used paper could become a meaningful gift, a hands-on business opportunity, and a way to give back? Through the RePaper – ReLove project, Grade 12 students at Sedbergh Vietnam brought this idea to life, combining knowledge across five subjects to transform discarded paper into creative products and turn classroom learning into purposeful action.

Last week, students set up stalls selling bookmarks and framed artwork made from recycled paper, offering thoughtful gift options for Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20. Beyond showcasing their creations, they gained hands-on business experience by developing business plans, setting prices, engaging with customers, managing sales revenue, and gathering feedback to evaluate and improve their products.

All proceeds from the initiative will be donated to Scar of Life, a charitable programme under Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise, helping cover the cost of life-saving heart surgeries for underprivileged children with congenital heart disease. Through RePaper – ReLove, students have the opportunity to strengthen their problem-solving abilities, collaboration skills, and sense of initiative. More importantly, the project allows them to experience how classroom knowledge can be applied to real-world challenges, creating value from existing resources while contributing to a meaningful humanitarian cause.
